Background of the schoolSkeen primary school was established in 1936 at 2nd avenue in Alexandra by a missionary called Mr Skeen. He saw the need to educate the children of the farm workers. The initiative started as a Sunday school and then it was turned into a fully-fledged school as the number of children increased. The school was formally registered in 1956 with the Department of education. Mr Molepo became the first Principal of the school. He was descended by Mr Kekana, Mr Modiba, Mr Manyisa and Mr Mashishi. In 1999, the school relocated to the new premises in Tsutsumani village that was built for the All Africa games. The school was offering Sepedi, Afrikaans and English in terms of languages. When schools were restructured in Alexandra, IsiZulu was introduced while Afrikaans was done away with. The present principal is C.R. Setshedi with a total number of 78 staff members including educators, security and kitchen personnel. The school has a functional SGB.
